Circulation Spaces
In addition to the designated activity spaces in front of individual fixtures, a minimum circulation zone of 600mm should be provided to support safe and comfortable movement throughout the toilet area.
Where appliances are positioned opposite each other, only one shared circulation space is required between their respective activity zones. A 600mm wide circulation space is appropriate for opposing runs containing up to six fixtures. For longer runs, this space should be increased to 900mm or more to prevent congestion and maintain accessibility.
In cases where space is highly constrained, and where a short run of up to four cubicles faces a line of washbasins, the circulation space may be omitted. However, this is not considered best practice and should be avoided where possible, as it compromises user comfort and flow.
